Bringing 'Baba Yaga' to Life: A John Wick 4 Fan Art Process

As fans of the John Wick series, we were eagerly anticipating the release of John Wick 4. When the trailer dropped, we were even more excited to see what kind of trouble Keanu Reeves' character would get into this time. As artists, we couldn't resist the urge to create some fan art to celebrate the upcoming movie.

The idea for our 'Baba Yaga' fan art came to us almost immediately after seeing the trailer. We were inspired by the mythological figure of Baba Yaga, a witch-like character in Slavic folklore, and thought it would be the perfect fit for the intense and action-packed world of John Wick.

We started the process by brainstorming and sketching out different poses and compositions for "Baba Yaga". We played around with a few different ideas before settling on the final sketch, which depicted John Wick holding a gun and sword as he faced off against his enemies.

Next, we moved on to the tight rough stage, where we added more detail and refined the lines. This was a time-consuming process, but it was also one of the most rewarding as we saw the piece start to take shape.  Constant tweaking a revising of proportions and shapes till we were finally satisfied.
After the tight rough was complete, we cleaned up the lines and added the finer details to bring the piece together. Zeroing in on the gun, katana and especially the face.  We also added tone and lighting for some dramatic effects.  This was the stage where everything really started to come together and we could see the final product taking shape.
Finally, it was time for the fun part: adding color! We decided to use a black, white, and red color palette for our 'Baba Yaga' fan art, as we felt that it would best capture the intensity and drama of the John Wick series. The red added a pop of color and heightened the sense of danger, while the black and white gave the piece a sleek and professional look.

As we worked on adding the final touches to the piece, the text and caption, we couldn't help but get excited for the release of John Wick 4. Keanu Reeves is such a talented actor, and we can't wait to see him back in action as the legendary hitman!  Kudos to the creator, Derek Kolstad and Director Chad Stahelski, for creating such a rich and exciting world that sparks so much inspiration to draw from.

And there you have it! The process of creating my John Wick 4 fan art from start to finish. I hope you enjoyed seeing the behind-the-scenes of my art-making process. Are you a fan of the John Wick movies? Let me know in the comments!
